How to know if it's the Lord's Will to Homeschool
Well, for us we knew that it was the Lord's Will, to homeschool, because everything seems to come together. First, we had a desire to homeschool. Then we found out about a homeschool conference the Wisconsin CHEA (Christian Home Education Association) was hosting about
1- 1/2 hours away May 2007. The money came so, not only could we go 3 days, but we were able to afford staying in the hotel that the conference was being hosted at, rather than driving back home each night. It was a great time that we had spending time with each other.
We only spent a little less than $100 on books at the conference and the Christian school, that our children used to go to, gave us boxes and bags of books, workbooks, copies of worksheets, flashcards, etc. So that is another way that we knew it was the Lord's Will for us to homeschool. Everything we need seems to be provided for us by God, whether someone gives it to us, or extra money comes in, whether through a raise or our business.
Maybe you're asking yourself: How do I know if the Lord is saying "no"? Well, if you want to homeschool, but every obstacle comes in your way, as if you keep hitting a brick wall. Like you want to buy books and your water heater breaks, so then you can't afford to buy books and nobody offers to give you any help with homeschooling. That would be one example.
The following is how I found out, how to know if something is not the Lord's Will: We went to the Philippines in 2004. We were taking a large amount of money and we were planning to be in the Philippines for 7 weeks. So, I the wife "thought" I knew what is best. "I" wanted to take traveller's check as most of the money and bring "some" cash. My husband said it would be fine if we took all cash. But I persisted and he said fine (women don't nag your husbands. Husbands are led by the LORD and they know what's best, even if you don't understand. It was Eve who was deceived first, not Adam. She probably talked Adam into eating the forbidden fruit. Sarah talked Abraham into having sex with Hagar-her maidservant-Hagar had a baby boy, Ishmael, who is where Islam started from). I should have listened to the Lord and submitted to my husband. This is what happened. We took Visa (don't think Mastercard will work, because if your husband says you shouldn't take any, your circumstance won't change-if there is a lesson to be learned by "you" the wife) and it was "supposed" to be accepted in the Philippines. We tried everywhere to cash our checks. Nowhere would cash them. We talked to the Visa people, they even told us where to go to cash the checks. So we went there. They said no. So we called Visa back and they told us the bank in such and such place would cash them. The bank told us no. So, we called Visa back, then Visa called the bank. The bank told Visa that they would cash the checks for us, so we walked back to the bank. The bank said "We told Visa we would cash your checks, but we can't." (We had to walk like 1/2 mile each way) For a week we tried, we had 100 pesos left, Visa told us to go to Manila. We were like "no way" because even if we went to Manila they would say no, plus we didn't have any money to travel to Manila. Finally, after I learned my lesson, God allowed us to get a Western Union from Visa for our travellers' checks. BRICK WALL. See what I mean, no matter where we went, we couldn't cash the checks, even when they said they would cash them.
HOPE THIS HELPS.
Prayer works. Pray about homeschooling fervently, if you're considering it (even if you're not sure yet). God will show you.
